Bankplassen (bank square)
This square in Oslo was named after Norway’s national bank which was formerly located at Bankplassen.
Today, the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design is located here as is the celebrated Engebret Cafe.
Bankplassen was renovated in 2016 in connection with its 200th anniversary and is well worth a visit. Around the fountain, timber and granite benches have been placed, inviting visitors to spend time under the 12 large trees on the square. New trees have also been planted and the newly established flower beds on the square increase bio-diversity and attract bees and butterflies.
