WoodHub –A Landmark for Timber Construction
Not far from Odense harbor, a new office hub rises with an impressive facade and aneven more impressive story. The building has been named WoodHub, and with a load-bearingtimber structure, it lives up to its name, standing as a landmark forsustainable timber construction in the heart of Odense's new waterfrontdistrict.
The prime location naturally ties together the life of the city and the pulse of theharbour. On the ground floor, space has been created for public facing functions, and the building's street-level frontage invites people in towardsthe office's inner courtyard garden
GreenSpaces and Rooftop Life
Rooftop terraces and raised courtyard gardens, alongside publicly accessible greenspaces, create natural breathing rooms for a midday break, an outdoor meeting,or simply a little more sky than you'd otherwise get in a busy city district. These are the kinds of places people want to be. And that is exactly what Milford workstowards – Liveable cities that don't just look green, but feels good to liveand work in. The facades are finished in recycled aluminium, and their warm reddish-brown tonescomplement the classic brickwork of the neighbouring buildings.
Milford's Contribution
WoodHub has been built using FSC- and PEFC-certified timber, contributing to the advancement of sustainable construction in Denmark. Milford's Canyon 3.0 threshold channel was used throughout the project and is a natural choice where level-free access and a free soffit were required. Canyon 3.0 is EPD-certifiedand fits naturally into the project's sustainable profile.
