Operaparken
New green city park by the Copenhagen Opera House
Operaparken in Copenhagen is a new 21,500 m² public park, serving as a green oasis on the harbor edge. Built above a parking garage and designed by COBE, the park is divided into six themed gardens: North American forest, Danish oak forest, Nordic forest, Oriental garden, English garden, and a subtropical greenhouse.
The park's landscape design is inspired by the romantic gardens of the 19th century and emphasizes creating a diverse, nature-inspired experience focused on biodiversity and sustainability. The selection of plants and trees reflects the character of each themed garden, ranging from local Danish species to more exotic plants, resulting in a vibrant and evolving park throughout the seasons.
Invisible underground tree anchoring system
To ensure the stability of the trees within the limited soil volume while preserving the park’s aesthetics, Milford supplied an invisible underground anchoring system. The RGB system is ideal for urban areas and locations where visible support structures are unwanted. It is designed for trees with trunk circumferences from 15 to 140 cm and heights up to 20 meters. The system includes ground anchors and robust straps to ensure optimal anchoring.
Milford is proud to have contributed to this unique project, which has won numerous awards and captured the hearts of Copenhageners.
