One of Copenhagen’s most elegant squares, Kongens Nytorv, is currently being (re-)constructed.

Running beneath Kongens Nytorv is a branch of the new Metro City Circle Line and in this context the square is also being upgraded. The layout of the square will remain as before. In addition, over 80 new Linden trees will be planted. These will form a “crown” around the statue of Christian V.

Under the paving of the square, almost 15,000 StrataCells will be implanted. These multiple growth cells will ensure that the trees have optimal growth conditions under the impervious surface of the square. Additional watering systems will be installed under the soil.

The opening of Kongens Nytorv is planned to coincide with the opening of the Metro City Circle Line in the summer of 2019.
